Do Cryogenic LNG Tanks Require Dual Valves?

As natural gas applications expand, demand for LNG storage tanks continues to grow. When purchasing an LNG tank, should you opt for dual valves? Let’s discuss.

Many may assume dual valves refer to two valves on the outlet of a cryogenic container’s pipeline. This is not the case. During piping installation, any single pipeline equipped with two valves constitutes a dual valve system. Similarly, a main pipeline with one valve and branch pipelines each fitted with a valve also qualifies as a dual valve system. Dual valves have numerous applications, but are primarily used in the following scenarios:

1.For pipelines connecting cryogenic LNG storage tanks containing flammable, toxic, valuable, or highly corrosive substances to other equipment, a dual valve must be installed regardless of the distance between the tank and the equipment.

2.Dual valves are required for the venting, purging, and sampling ports of cryogenic LNG storage tanks containing flammable, toxic, valuable, or highly corrosive substances.

3.Dual valves are required in areas where boundary demarcation is needed or where switching operations occur frequently.

When selecting cryogenic LNG storage tanks, the necessity of dual valves depends on the overall layout of the gas station. Excellent Gas Equipment specializes in providing customized gas solutions. For any gas equipment customization needs, please contact us via our website.
